The Rose Garden
McGovern Centennial Gardens is one of my absolute favorite locations to visit for an engagement session. During the late winter and early spring seasons, the pink climbing roses cover the arches in the Rose Garden section of park. I was worried that last years freeze would have harmed the flowers, but they were unscathed and in bloom. When Mackayla and Ryan were discussing location options for their engagement session, I knew that McGovern Centennial Gardens would be the perfect backdrop to compliment their vision. Luckily, it was also the most beautiful day, low humidity, and 70 degree weather. It doesn’t get much better than that in Houston. Mackayla and Ryan’s love story didn’t quite begin in those conditions though.
They actually met through Mackayla’s sister, while hunkering down during a hurricane. If you can make it out of a hurricane with someone, the relationship is built to last. Houstonians know that a few days without AC in the Texas heat will challenge even the most seasoned relationships, but they made it out with a new one. I cannot wait to continue their story next January at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, but for now here are a few of my favorites from their engagement session.
