A SCOTLAND WEDDING & PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER
I'm Christina
Are you a bride to be and are worried about the potential of rain on your wedding day? If so, this is the blog you never knew you needed. Megan and Parker decided to host their fall wedding at Still Waters Ranch Wedding and Event venue in Alvin, TX. Like most couples, I am sure they prayed for sunny skies and 70 degree weather. Flash forward to October 23rd, the temperature was perfect, but the sky had other plans. The moment we stepped outside for portraits, the wind began to pick up and the rain started to trickle down. Bummer right? Wrong! I say this for a few reasons… First, we are all here to celebrate you and your soon to be spouse. Second, overcast acts like a giant soft box and creates the most lovely, even light all around. Lastly, it’s just rain, we pivot photograph something else and come back to whatever we were doing after it slows down. Also, you can be a boss like Megan & Parker and play in the rain together. So my point here is, don’t let a little rain put a damper on your day. There is always magic to be created, even if you can’t see it initially. Now, let’s get back to my girl and her husband’s wedding day story! Megan is a saint and teaches at an Elementary School and Parker works for the HPD! Both have super big jobs and I am grateful that they do what they do! They actually met on a dating site after Parker swiped right. I am so glad that he did because I then had the privilege of meeting and befriending his gorgeous bride. On a side note, I will miss our wedding planning texts! Megan is funny, beautiful, caring, smart, and she speaks my love language of champagne. Oh, and a dancing machine, but we will get to that later. Megan is extremely thoughtful and looks to take care of her family and friends, so I knew her wedding would be full of personal moments with those that are dear to her. So much so that the bride and groom’s dog made a special appearance down the aisle, the bride’s cousin was the officiant, and the couple prepared personal vows to read during the ceremony. Cue the happy tears! Once we made it through the ceremony and formal portraits piece of the day, it was time to party! The Maid of Honor and Best Man understood the grand entrance assignment and downed some Fireball. This is the point where I knew this group was going to be so fun. Then the new Mr. and Mrs. Marsh made their way in and kicked off the night with their first dance to the song that Patrick sang to David for all of the Schitt’s Creek fans out there. It was simply the best! After that it was on! The guests all came together over their love for the song Mr. Brightside and belted every word at the top of the lungs. And then my girl let her down, changed her dress, and put on some cozy leopard slippers. We had to pull Megan off of the dance floor to cut the cake. I love that she was having such a great time. But all fun parties to come to an end and it was time for Parker and Megan’s private dance before the sparkler exit. Megan and Parker ran through the sparklers into their vintage Bentley get-a-way car and posed for some fun photos before heading off to the afterparty. We really had the best best day with the best couple, congratulations to the Marshs!
