Two weddings in one day? Yes, please! And two completely different cultural ceremonies, sign me up. Shannon and Sunil had their wedding(s) at The Bell Tower on 34th on the eve of Hurricane Nicholas. Luckily, the rain held off and it was a beautiful day for a wedding, well two. We started the day off with a Baraat to celebrate the groom. Sunil rode in on a white horse with a beautiful gold and red embellishments. Talk about an entrance! The groom joined his groomsmen and guests and danced their way into the venue for the traditional Indian wedding. The bride was escorted in by her brother to join their families at the Mandap. The ceremony was beautiful and the couple gleefully walked down the aisle, as the guests threw rice in celebration. After a quick brunch, it was time to capture the evening ceremony details and start hair and makeup for the evening. Once Sunny Hair and Makeup were finished working their magic on the bridal party, we headed out to the bridal suite courtyard to get the party started by popping some champagne. I am always a fan of this moment. The cork was a little stubborn, but Shannon wiggled it off and the champagne started flowing. Once we got our lovely bride in her dress, it was time for first looks with the father of the bride and her brother. We then followed that with a first look with the groom and the bridal party. Everyone was so blown away by how beautiful Shannon looked in her gown. It was so sweet to see both her family and friends reactions. But now after five reschedules; it was finally time to get Shannon & Sunil married. Shannon floated down the aisle, as her adoring groom teared up. The couple wrote their own vows that had me tearing up. Their love and adoration for each other was so evident and I am so happy that the moment they had been waiting so long for had finally become a reality. Now it was time to party! The wedding party had some great moves during their introduction dances, but Shannon & Sunil stole the show walking down the grand staircase. Sunil’s Brother-in-Law and Sister gave the speeches for the night that were both funny and moving. Selfishly, I was ready for the couple to cut the cake because Cakes by Gina. If you know, you know. The cake was incredible! After eating the cake, it was time to burn some calories and hit the dance floor. The newlyweds danced the night away with their guests and enjoyed a private last dance before their special exit. It was my longest wedding to date, but meeting Shannon and Sunil make it all worthwhile. Congratulations Dr. and Mrs. Aradhya!
